1258m. 2500 inhabitants. Kappl lies in southwest Tyrol on the sunny slope of the Paznaun valley. This valley begins at theold town of Landeck and ends by a huge reservoir in the Silvretta and the Bieler Höhe (2000m). The Silvretta high alpinepass will take you up to these magnificent heights where the mountain enthusiast can enjoy the fantastic, panoramic views (Piz Buin 3316m), then down again into the Montafon valley in Vorarlberg. Many farms and attractive Tyrolean houses of90 hamlets nestle on the slopes of the mountain. The sunny, rural village of Kappl is surrounded by the imposing mountainranges of the Verwall-Samnaun and Silvretta with their numerous peaks and glaciers of over 3000m and is therefore awonderful venue for mountain tours from one alpine shelter to another. The countryside around Kappl delights the visitor's eye; from the verdant green pastures by the river to the steep fields, flowerfilled mountain meadows, the fertileslopes and the tranquil going right up to the alpine grazing region and the lofty summits. 70km of well marked walkingpaths take the hiker past groups of brown, wooden houses, wayside shringes, many chapels, rushing streams and waterfalls to the romantic alpine shelters. You will be well rewarded for your climb by a wonderful vista, healthy mountain airand a typical tyrolean meal of smoked bacon, cheese and fresh milk. A wealth of adventure and pleasant experiencesare to be found in the mountains. For extra enjoyment groups of tourists often join the local people for an evening "Hüttenzauber" in the traditional inns or alpine shelters.
