1100m. The beautiful mountain valley, Pitztal, lies 70km south of Innsbruck and 12km from Imst. Jerzens with its 900 inhabitants is a small village lying in the heart of the Pitztal, on a sunny, mountain plateau surrounded by imposing mountain scenery. Here nature is unspoilt, the environment intact. The hospitable, local people work hard in the fields oftenunder very harsh conditions in order to keep the beautiful mountain region in good condition. This 40km long valley extending from north to south fascinates its guests with its ever changing scenery; from green valley basin up gentle slopes dotted with farmhouses and full of glorious flowers to the green woods and finally to the wide, alpine pastures withtheir mountain shelters. A mountain railway will take you up to this high region where you can enjoy magnificent viewsof the Stubai-Ötztal Alps and where you can climb to the summits of the Hochzeiger (2560m) and Sechszeiger (2392m). For the more adventurous, the "gletscher-Panorama" railway will take you up to the Pitztal Glacier (3440m) to the landof everlasting ice. Here you can climb Tyrol's highest mountain, the Wildspitze (3774m). Trained mountain guides will alsotake you on easy as well as more difficult tours, photo and ice safaris. Well known in the region, the "Luis Trenkeras-" cent, in the Pitz gorge.
